Summary |
The sample garments featured in the color section of this book are made from the patterns included and each article of clothing has been made in the patchwork style. Usually I piece the appropriate shape, line it, fill it with a batt if necessary, hand-quilt the piece and finally sew the pieces together with binding over the seams. I find this frees me from the rigidity of having to cut everything out at once. Also one can feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment if you set your goal to finish one unit of the garment at a time. It is rather like doing a sampler quilt in that each unit or rectangle or variation of a rectangle is finished and finally the garment assembled and the hand finishing done just like in a full-size quilt. |
