These screen printed fabrics were a research project for Goddard College. Selected pages from the paper for the project, "Treasure From a Shoebox", dated November 1974, accompanies the screen prints. The images were family photograph negatives found by Sally Garoutte and used for the project. The fabrics were donated to the American Quilt Study Group, which included them in their silent auction in 1996. This group of seven images of people in the water was purchased by Hazel Carter at that auction, and donated in 2002 to The Quilters Hall of Fame. A similar set of fabrics, with eight images of automobiles, was purchased at the same auction by Rosalind Webster Perry, who also donated hers to The Quilters Hall of Fame in 2002. A third set of fabrics depicting images of one woman at various ages was created by Sally Garoutte for the project but is not in this collection. |
