A collection of hand-made Christmas "cards" and ornaments made by Arnold Savage and sent to Hazel Carter. Most are fabric, some of which is from Arnold's stash of family historic yardage. All have satin ribbon hanging loops. He called them "Envelope quilts". a. Three dimensional butterfly with red body and Christmas fabric wings; juvenile Christmas fabric on the back. b. "Beautiful Butterfly", flat, plasticized holly print paper cut out in a butterfly shape. States:"Designed by Madonna Savage 1930. 'Christmas Metamorphosis'. Revised by Arnold Savage 2019. Drop my wings around your pot; So your hands won't get hot" c. Rectangular fabric card; stylized floral motif on a background of small purple floral.on cream. Cream rickrack edging. Image is outline quilted in white. Note on reverse "I love the card you sent my way. It cheered me up and made-my-day." Signed Arnold H. Savage. 2010. Also noted, "Real 1930 fabrics from 'Arnold's Attic'. Not repros, never washed. Backing fabric "Rocklo Muslin'. mfg Rockland, MD. 1840" d.Rectangular fabric card with three-dimensional white rose on double pink fabric with tatted beige trim wrapped front to back for edging. Back is muslin."This lovely rose is sent your way to bless you all on Christmas Day". Arnold Hagy Savage 2010. Antique 1870 fabrics from 'Arnold's Attic''." e. Rectangular fabric card.Attached green wreath over a white-on-white print background with red bow to match the hanging loop. Written below the wreath is "Christmas Greetings" in red ink. Edged with machine decorative stitch in red thread with white bobbin thread. The back is solid Nile gree. "Coming your way to wish you a blessed Holy Day! Arnold H. Savage 12-25-11" f. Rectangular fabric card. Background is a sky print. There is an angel cut out of stiffened fabric. Above the angel is "Gloria!" Edged with red machine zig zag stitch.On the reverse, "In Excelsis Deo. et incarnatus. Domine! Christmas 2013. Arnold H. Savage" g.Christmas wreath of six hexagons in alternating green or red on white tiny floral fabric. On reverse, "Sending Christmas Blessings to you. Arnold H. Savage. 2016" h.Rectangular fabric card. Red rose with two leafed branches on a pink mottled background. At the top:" Lo-how a Rose ere blooming"; at the bottom " From tender stem hast sprung!" On the reverse:"Of Jesse's lineage coming as men of old hast sung. HE came flow'ret bright-Amid the cold of winter ,When half-spent was the night. Christmas Blessings . December 2012" i Bell-shaped card. Red Santa coming out of chimney on green Christmas fabric background. Fabric is stiffened. On reverse:" Wishing you a Jolly Old Christmas.Arnold H. Savage 2014". j. Rectangular fabric card. Lime green background with dark green Christmas tree, its trunk formed by a brown triangle, topped with a silver sequin circle. Red decorative machine edging. On reverse, cream muslin : "CHRISTMAS IS NIGH. Signed Arnold H. Savage 2018" At the bottom" 1930s fabrics by Marie Webster" k Rectangular fabric card. An eight-pointed star made of folded silver woven ribbon on Christmas sky fabric in dark blue with gold stars. Machine zig zag edging in white thread. On reverse, "NUMBERS - 24 : 17.
