Description |
The quilt is made up of one block, Double squares (Brackman #2472) modified. The center square is made from a tint of red fabrics, one featuring the Liberty Bell and dates 1776 and 1876, two corners of the square are formed from triangles. The next square is made of two tint of blue fabrics, one featuring an eagle and flag design. This square is broken by a frame made of red, blue and white, and black and red fabrics. Both of these are framed by an off-white fabric and the corners are finished with a red patterned fabric. The 1/4" binding is an integral part of the design using red and blue fabrics. White twill back. Quilting Pattern: 1/8" echo quilting inside patches, triangles in off-white border. 8 stitches per inch. Predominant colors: Tints of red and blue, off-white and a touch of black. Techniques: Hand piecing, hand quilting 2" sleeve on back. A provenance label is also on the back. |
