Description |
Four star podium hanging for Continental Quilting Congress. Center field of ten 4-pointed stars in graduated shades of hand dyed cottons. surrounded with a commercial dark blue. There is a narrow hand dyed inner border with the center section pieced of small square of graduated hand dyed yellows. a secondary pale blue inner border is on two sides only. The 4 1/2" outer border is the same commercial dark blue as the inner triangles. The piece is signed in pen in the lower proper left corner "Hazel Carter 1990". The piece is hand quilted at 10 stitched to the inch through thin batt using thread matching fabrics. The stars are outlined quilted the yellow diamonds are quilted in nested diamonds. Irregularly spaced parallel lines are used in the inner dark blue triangles and intersecting groups of more widely spaced parallel lines in the borders. The binding is the front border fabric turned to the back and stitched. The back is a dark indigo commercial fabric printed in pin dots. The same fabric forms the hanging sleeve at the top. |
