Twenty 3.5" Nine-Patch blocks of florals, some geometrics, set on point in the center. One block is centered in a blue Centennial print. In the alternating blocks broderie perse flowers in mostly hand-block-printed fabrics are appliqued on white backgrounds. Inner white border is broderie perse appliqued with vines and bouquets, mostly of 1990s fabrics with some elements in antique fabrics. Outer border made up of 1" blocks set on point with white background. 1/4" white binding. Back is plain white muslin. Hanging sleeve on back. Quilting: 9 stitches per inch. The pieced blocks are quilted with straight lines bisecting each patch both vertically and horizontally. The broderie perse blocks and the inner border are outline quilted, and the remainder of the white background is quilted in a 1/2" diagonal grid which does not cross the appliques. Predominant colors: White background and multiple colors Techniques: hand piecing, hand applique, hand quilting A provenance label is also on the back. |
