Description |
A partial kit with instructions and material to make Anne Orr's Double Wedding quilt; her design #104. There is a small tag on the envelope label (a. below) that may indicate the original kit was purchased for $5.00 from John Wannemaker (department store) Philadelphia, PA. It appears that a maker used part of the kit to make a small quilt, and these are the leftovers. Included are: a. the brown kraft envelope in which the kit originally came. On the front is a black and white photo of the quilt, titled, "Anne Orr's Pieced Wedding Ring Quilt; No. 104; Size, when completed, 67 x 88 inches" Below the photo it says, "Pieces are stamped on fast color percale prints, ginghams that match in tone, combined with a fine white cotton fabric, Quilting design and directions enclosed. There are two pieces of plain cardboard with in the envelope which would have served to protect the contents. The envelope flap was sealed with an Anne Orr sticker on either side of the clasp, These were slit when the envelope was originally opened. b. direction sheet with a line drawing to show fabric placement in the block. There are two typed corrections in the printed directions. (All of the following fabrics are stamped for cutting) c. line drawing for quilting design. d. a & b. fabric: dark yellow with white leaves and flowers outlined in red e a & b. fabric: sprigs of yellow berries with orange leaves on gold and white ground f. small white flower sprays on green ground g. fabric: tossed pink floral with pink leaf sprays on white ground h . fabric: packed outlined white flowers and leaves on purple ground i a, b &c fabric: dark blue and turquoise floral on white pin dotted ground j a &b fabric: outlined white flowers and leaf spray on light blue ground k.fabric: tiny yellow, green, and pink outlined ovals connected with black lines on cream ground l.fabric: packed small purple flowers on white ground m. white "Cloth of Gold" fabric stamped with repeats of ring elements n. white "Cloth of Gold" fabric stamped with six individual oval or melon shapes, labelled "Piece 2" |
