Description |
One of three fragments of a Chinese skirt owned by Marie Webster; embroidery from this skirt was used in Bets Ramsey's wallhanging 2015.FIC.016. This is a irregularly shaped section of the skirt with 3 narrow embroidered bands on one side and a top 1/3 of three similar bands on the other. A section has been cut out for use. There is one embroidered flower near the hem and an embroidered band across the bottom. The top edge is cut. |

Bets Ramsey made a wall hanging out of part of this skirt (Object ID 2015.FIC.016). "Rosalind Perry knew I liked to salvage old fabric pieces and when she found the Chinese (?) dress in one of Marie's dresser drawers she asked me if I could do something with it. I think Marie had some costume get-ups as you know from her photo in the hall, but I don't know how the dress fit into her life. Maybe Rosalind knows more about it.
