Description |
Square wall hanging. Heavy cream cotton with nine machine appliqued blocks made from Marie Webster quilt patterns. Top row blocks are Poppy, Daffodil and Grapes and Vines. Center row blocks are two baskets flanking an appliqued bunny group from Webster's quilt, Bunnies. Third row blocks are Iris, Poinsettia and Pansies and Butterflies. A thin black and white diagonal striped flange surrounds the center blocks. This is followed by a 2.5" wide cream border and purple bias binding. The backing is the same heavy cream cotton, with a printed iron-on label: "Ode to Marie Jo Goldman Ohio 2019" The front shows white diagonal machine quilting 1/4" apart across each block. These lines are mostly but not entirely contiguous across the blocks. They do not, however, cross the applique. The only quilting showing on the back is a nine-patch grid defining the nine central blocks and a single line of machine stitching bisecting the entire outer cream border. The central pink bunny block is quilted in diagonal pink stitching. Cataloger believes that all of the diagonal quilting was completed before the applique shapes in each block were added; these were apparently fused on and then machine buttonhole stitched around the edges. |
