A-C: Set of quilt and two matching pillow shams in bright prints with cream. A, Quilt: The 6" block, Brackman #3252, "Unknown," has a cream diagonal signature strip flanked by four triangles of bright prints. Set together, the pattern forms a cream signature lattice between bright blocks on point of eight different fabrics. The field is surrounded by a 1.5" cream inner border and a 2" outer border of bright triangles. The backing is plain white. Binding is a red tone-on-tone print. A white hanging sleeve is attached to the back. Machine pieced and machine quilted. The machine quilting is a meander through a fairly thick batt. Honoree signatures on the quilt include: Yvonne Porcella Helen Kelley Jeffrey Gutcheon Nancy Crow Barbara Brackman Virginia Avery Eleanor Burns Karey Patterson Bresenhan Jinny Beyer Jonathan Holstein (with a sketched nine patch block) Bets Ramsey Sheila Betterton Bonnie Leman Michael James A block was also signed by someone in a Bosnia quilt club, and many other names are also present, including many from the Marie Webster Guild. B and C, Pillow Shams: Matching pillow shams are finished with large prairie points in printed fabrics at each end, and backed with a blue and yellow on cream striped fabric from the Marie Webster collection. Pillow Slip B is lined in a yellow print; C is lined half in a yellow print and half in a green print. Dimensions: 31" x 20". The pillow sham blocks also include signatures, but none by Honorees. |

From exhibit sign: Honoree Georgia Bonesteel began a signature quilt in 2007 to raise money for the Quilters Hall of Fame. Some of the blocks were made as a head to head sewing competition between a treadle sewing machine and an electronic sewing machine conducted by Georgia and Eleanor Burns during Celebration. Block kits were sold to individuals for completion at home. In 2011 the quilt was completed and was then auctioned during the Live Auction at Celebration 2011. The quilt was purchased by Ralph and Janis James and donated to the collection of the Quilters Hall of Fame. Pieced by Georgia Bonesteel and quilted by Kathy Boxell. |
