Description |
Textured red on black background with raw edge applique of diagonal indigo print and vertical white on white print. Machine quilting in red thread in irregularly spaced chevrons. Quilting stitches are carried as loose threads over the white rectangle. A very narrow 2" flange of white is inserted in the binding at the lower proper left. Red and black print binding is wider at the bottom than the sides and forms a rod pocket on the back. Backing is a red/orange cotton printed with tiny white stars and blue dots. Muslin label on the back gives the quilt's name, date, and maker. "Red Blue and White" 1999 Hazel Carter AQSG auction 1999. |
